I Pay Taxes (Where’s My Representation?)

Taxes without representation is what it’s always been up until the present day,

In the United States, it’s taught that’s “The American Way”.

Get me elected and I’ll go and fight for your rights, let’s hold hands and pray,

After you’re in, I see you on the street, I speak and you don’t even say, “Hey”.

As you’re walking away, I hear your wife ask, “who was that mann”,

And you tell her, someone you helped: he was eating out of a trashcan.

Life of most politicians (worldwide) are pretty much the same,

Never about constituents, but the glory, money and fame.

There are a few (far and in between) who actually work to do a competent job,

Most are there only for themselves: all they do is rob.

Passing laws to enrich their power and money-hungry friends,

Knowing a nice return will be coming soon, at the other end.

Lauren from Colorado wants to take everyone back to 1776,

O-Kee-Dokey, when the time comes I’ll make sure, “you won’t be missed”.

Mitch in Kentucky didn’t want Obama to appoint anyone to the Supreme Court, said: you’re too close to the end of your term,

Fast forward a few years later, shoe’s on the other foot, he did an about face (two-faced), smiling, thinking hmmm, won’t you all ever learn.

Ron in Florida only wants “certain historical facts” in school to be taught,

When questioned as to why, way too many truths (lies) are explained: he’s been caught.

Everyone it seems wants to go back in time,

Okay peeps, how about the year 1100 in this country: what would you find?

Don’t everybody jump up and down all at the same time,

I’m pretty sure back at that time, you wouldn’t find,

Many with a certain outer hue,

That looked like any of you.

The great ole U.S.A. where you can always do exactly as you please,

Can go to the highest mountains, with effortless ease.

But only if you’re a “certain outer complexion”,

No one needs to ponder on this inner reflection,

It’s never about: for the people, by the people and for the good of the people, unless it’s election time,

Then politicians will be tripping over “any and everyone”: potential constituents I’ve got to find.

I have to get in,

I’ve got to win.

Constituents better make up your minds,

Be a damn good idea to find,

Those individuals who are really looking out for “EVERYONE”,

Or for sure…this country will be done.
